Rock Band Camp Rocks

Monday, January 4th - 2010

During the holiday break our son Tamaio got to experience life in a rock band at Sound Roots School of Modern Music in North Portland. With one camp experience already under his belt Tamaio went straight for the electric guitar. He seemed excited to add a couple of songs to his repetoire and make some new friends. Impressed is the best word to describe our experience at their end of the week showcase at Mississippi Pizza. It was so cool we had to share the fruits of this labor. Plus Kim was able to sneak behind the scenes at camp and take a few shots of the mini rock stars too.

Sound Roots is having a FREE evening of music for families on January 8th at 6pm to celebrate their new digs at 3954 N Williams Avenue. We’ll be there hope you can too…find more event details here.

Our Girl Graduates

Tuesday, September 8th - 2009

As the end of Summer wrapped up we headed down to Eugene to watch our daughter Paulina and her partner Roberto graduate from the University of Oregon.

We are so proud of them both. After the ceremony we photographed them with all of their loved ones. It was our good fortune that a dear friend took this photo of our family together. It’s pretty rare to get us in front of the camera and we are so pleased to have this photo to remember this day by.

Allie got hitched!

Wednesday, August 19th - 2009

For those of you who’ve worked with us in the past year and a half you likely crossed paths with Allie. Her smile is unforgettable and her kindness is of the grandest proportions. Well this past weekend she got married to her best friend and partner in life, Carlos out at Krugers Farm. Carlos thrilled the guests by riding into the ceremony on an old fashioned bike and Allie rode in style with her sisters in a pedicab across the meadow. An oh-so-sweet ceremony took place under a tree of storybook proportions. The guests played yard games, danced under the stars, captured darling pics in an on-site photo booth and topped off their full tummies with a mixed berry shortcake with chantilly cream. Divine!

The whole crew was there for the celebration. Kelly photographed the shindig, Leah brought along an 8 mm movie camera and Kim shot video to create a little movie.

We are pretty confident Allie will be thrilled that she invited all her photographer friends. In case you were wondering, we still don’t do weddings at Campbell Salgado. Sigh…

Picturing Leah & Kelly's Big Night

Wednesday, August 12th - 2009

People often ask how do photographers stay creative and keep their skills sharp? One way is to create imagery that is personally satisfying and not designed for commercial favor. Many photographers do this by developing concepts and ideas to explore through their camera lens. When a large enough body of work is amassed a show is often the vehicle to share one’s explorations with a broader audience.

It was really a treat for us to visit the First Thursday show of our two associate photographers Leah and Kelly last week. To see each photographer’s unique viewpoint, talent and story through finished prints is so much fun. Francisco and I felt so proud of these accomplished women!
