Kelly Gets Married!

Monday, July 26th - 2010

Our amazing and lovely Associate photographer Kelly married Joseph on July 3rd, 2010 in a touching and intimate ceremony on Mt. Hood. Friends shared blessings, poems, thoughts on life and love and ultimately married the two together with their words. Kelly supplied the guests with old, toy cameras and our other talented and adorable Associate photographer Leah, documented her wedding on film. We love it when the photography stays in the family. Congratulations Kelly! Her is a little slice of her wedding under one minute.

Unveiling the Outdoor Portrait Garden - A Photographic Family Event

Saturday, July 17th - 2010

Brick red stucco wall with rustic door in an outdoor photography studio environment

After many months of welding, weeding, painting, sanding, stuccoing and smiling, we are enjoying a newly improved outdoor photo studio. We are calling it our outdoor portrait garden and are thrilled to have even more natural light background options for our clients. From a Tuscan inspired stucco wall inset with a rustic old door we built from found wood to a contemporary room with brown acid stained concrete floors and smokey gray textured walls we’ve got many artistic and interesting options for portraits. Francisco welded a couple light modifying structures to allow us to photograph in all kinds of weather. While Kim has sewn silk light-filtering curtains to create amazingly beautiful light on our subjects faces.

We are also tickled pink to have a padded shooting table we can use throughout the garden to photograph our tiniest clients…babies. Portraits will be on display to showcase our latest approach to portrait photography.

Come see for yourself during our Sellwood Summer Passport event on August 7th. The studio will be open to the public from 10 am – 5 pm with lots of family friendly activities to make it worth your while. For more details read about the party here. Plus, you won’t want to miss the big yellow sculpture jumping in our front yard. RSVP on facebook

Salgado's Public Art Graces Sellwood

Saturday, July 17th - 2010

Yellow steel sculpture abstractly designed to simulate jumping

After two years in Lake Oswego’s Gallery Without Walls Francisco Salgado’s 9’ tall steel sculpture entitled ‘Jump’ is now gracing the front of our photography studio! We’ve heard so many wonderful comments about folks encountering the sculpture while coming down Tacoma. I really love the friendly abstract expression the piece conveys and thinks it’s the perfect fit for our playful portrait studio. See more of Francisco’s sculpture portfolio on his website and “contact us” to find out how you can commission him for public art for your business or private art for your home.

Mama-Makeover Wrap Party

Monday, June 7th - 2010

If you’ve been following the Mama Makeover you may enjoy some highlights from Friday’s Wrap party.
We hoped for a sunny spring morning to celebrate with Andrea in our outdoor portrait garden but quickly reconsidered as the May downpours continued. Annee from Zenana Spa is enjoying the front porch play area with her children, which proved to be a comfy and covered place to play.

Andrea’s dear friend Shawn heard about the Mama Makeover through our Campbell Salgado Newsletter and forwarded it to Andrea to enter. Her friend knew she would be an ideal candidate and she was right. Shawn got a special surprise at the reception when she won the raffle for a mini-makeover for herself with raffle proceeds benefiting Baby Blues Connection. How wonderfully karmic.

Andrea’s fan club of dear dear friends showed up to provide support along with her husband Dom and daughter Maddie.

At the reception Andrea shared about her journey, along with her husband and friends. One of the sponsors, Amy Watson from Whole Mama – Whole Child Chiropractic talked about the transformation she witnessed in Andrea over the course of the 8 week process.

Guess what? You don’t have to wait until next year for the chance to have a Mama Makeover. Wendy Foster, of Mamalates, is making available some mini-makeovers to purchase for only $259 you get discounts and certificates for hundreds of dollars of services. Available to purchase through Wendy and Zenana Spa.

After the food was all packed up, the guests stepped into a sunny day and Kim and Wendy just couldn’t let all the outdoor audio equipment rental go to waste so they had an impromptu jam session. Can you picture it…”Here comes the sun…na na na.”

Andrea's Transformation

Thursday, May 27th - 2010

This was an extra special photo session for Andrea, the Mama Makeover winner. After eight weeks of transformative skill building, coaching, healing, lots of nurturing and support through a wonderful collective of local service providers she was positively glowing.

Two talented stylists provided an additional treat by preparing Andrea for her family photo shoot. Even her daughter Sophie got a little extra sparkle.

What a natural and gorgeous hair and makeup stylist Gretchen Harp created on Andrea. The custom clothes from Sofada were personally styled by the vivacious Mindy Helmer, Andrea’s personal style consultant during the makeover.

I think Andrea really took her husband Dominic’s breath away.

She just lit up the camera with her joyful light. It’s amazing to see what could happen in two months time.

After so many days of rain we were pretty sure it would be an indoor session but low and behold there was a brief reprieve from the daily downpour and we were able to slip outside to capture this lovely family portrait.

One of the several goals Andrea addressed during her makeover involved was building strength, gaining weight and improving her flexibility through private and group pilates sessions with Wendy Foster of mamalates. It’s clear that she accomplished all of these goals by taking a peek at her before and after photos.

To read more of Andrea’s story and why she was picked to be the winner of Mama Makeover visit the Mama Makeover blog. Thanks to all the wonderful businesses who donated their time to make this Makeover possible. Read more about these amazing sponsors here.

Join us for a reception to meet Andrea and hear more of her story at a free reception this coming Friday, June 4th from 11:00 am – 12pm here at our studio. RSVP on the Mama Makeover evite.

Why baby's first year is so precious.

Friday, May 21st - 2010

One of dear clients did a fun blog post about the first year portraits that were done of little Mae when she was a baby with her big brother Henry a few years back. From kissing his mama’s belly to holding his little sis’ on her 1st birthday Henry forged a dear relationship with Mae in just twelve short months. We say short because that first year flies by at warp speed it seems for many new families. Finding a way to savor the memories of our little ones, in a sophisticated and timeless way, is one of the reasons we’ve put so much thought into our new Baby’s First Year Collection. We’ll help you build a gorgeous collection of art – of your favorite subjects – for your home from maternity photography to baby photography.

Hearing stories like mom Marne’s reminds us of the true value of taking time for professional portraits when your children are growing up. Read more here on her charming Cat in an Apron blog.
